Coaching is all about taking stock of where you are now and identifying where you need to be; exploring your options, what elements in your environment you could control and which elements are outwith your influence; finding acceptance; clarifying where to focus your energy; creating your strategy, what practical steps you can take starting now, what you can plan for the next steps and how you will recognise success. It may well involve changing the way you see things, changing your perspective, exploring your values and beliefs to uncover any barriers that are holding you back and generate energy through living up to your positive values and beliefs. Coaching will probably involve you changing behaviours, attitudes and habits - they say you need to practise a new behaviour every day for 3 weeks for it to start feeling familiar, but it takes another 9 weeks or so of conscious effort before it becomes more ingrained. You may find you have sudden "aha" moments when you have a shift in perspective and gain a new insight or just "get it" and then find it takes much longer to put into practice what you want to do. That's why having your coach to sustain you through the process helps you achieve what you want to do more effectively than you might on your own.


Successful people are clear about what they want and act on their goals. Successful people are motivated and empowered by a strong sense of self belief, living up to their values and principles. They also set up a support system around them, to help keep them motivated and on track and be accountable to themselves and their dreams. This is the main difference between high and low achievers. Many people don't get where they want to be because they lack direction, focus, clarity, motivation or commitment, and they often find change and challenges daunting. They lack the right kind of support in their life. This is where having a coach makes ALL the difference.
